Egypt have qualified for FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1990. The North African nation are the most successful footballing country in their continent with seven AFCON titles, but they haven’t had their share of luck when it comes to World Cup.
The Pharaohs are making their second appearance in the sport’s biggest tournament in last 86 years, and it’s a rather huge occasion for the entire nation. It’s no surprise that Egypt’s rise in recent years has coincided with the emergence of Liverpool star Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian forward has cemented his position among world’s best following the last season, and the entire world will closely monitor him throughout the tournament.
A look at the kit Salah is set to don in Russia
ADIDAS is the official kit sponsor of Egypt since 2012, and they have already released Egypt home and away kits for the World Cup. Egypt’s traditional home colours are red and white, and away colours are white and back. ADIDAS has stuck to the traditional colours for World Cup, but some fans might find the new jerseys uninteresting.
The home shirt has a minimal red chequered design with ADIDAS’ famous three white stripes running down the sides. The previous jersey had three stripes on its shoulders. Instead of black sleeves with red stripes of the previous jersey, the new jersey has red sleeves with a black trim on the edge. The jersey also has a black trim on the collar. White shorts and black socks complete Egypt’s home jersey. Egypt’s away kit consists of a white shirt, black shorts and white socks.
Egypt will be wearing their home kit for the World Cup opener against Uruguay, and their goalkeeper will don a blue kit. The Pharaohs will switch to their away kit for their next two games against Russia and Saudi Arabia.
Egypt third kit concept
Egypt have no third kit for the cup, but there is one particular design that has attracted the attention of many football fans.
Price and Places to buy Egypt World Cup kit
Egypt jersey is quite hard to find on the internet, and none of the major online stores seems to have the away jersey available. FIFA and ADIDAS stores have also sold out the home jersey, and you will need to wait if you plan to shop only from authorised stores.
However, ProDirect has the replica home shirt listed at £70. Subside Sports has the original jersey which costs £79.99, and UKSoccerShop has home jersey with name and print at £119.99. The latter store also has kids’ jerseys available ranging from £39.99 to £44.99.
For women, there is a lot of Egypt apparel merchandise available in stores. However, the official jersey is not available in women, junior, kid and mini options at online stores.
Verdict
Egypt are not expected to progress beyond the group stage, but the current side has already reserved a page in history after their qualification to the tournament. Adidas hasn’t done anything spectacular with the new jersey, but it is bound to be remembered for long, especially among Egypt fans.
