On the satellite 7 matches, 3 in streaming, but the fans will be able to see everything on a single platform.

New collaboration SKY-DAZN

Football revolution on TV, second year. If 2018 marked the new era of the Serie A streaming, the season at the door is that of adjustment, with a novelty on the horizon not just. To recap: a year ago, Sky and Dazn divided the matches of the top league (seven a day to the first, three to the second) forever changing the habits of the fans, given that to follow the entire event it was necessary to have two season tickets and an Internet connection. Now the two licensees of the Serie A, already commercially allied with discounts reserved for Sky customers to access Dazn, are dialoguing for the evolution of relationships.

THE NEWS

The final landing, in September after the break of the championship, should be a multisport channel, with the best of Dazn programming, available on the satellite platform in the numbering of 200 channels. The modalities must still be defined, both in terms of content and about to the offer, but for the enthusiast, a particularly interesting scenario is envisaged: the possibility of seeing all ten Serie A matches on the same platform. The Dazn channel, turnkey on the model of Eurosport and Fox Sports, could be included in some types of packages or be accessible with a price advantage for old Sky customers. It would also be a way to divert the "traffic" towards the satellite, after the inconveniences suffered by the users of the Ott (Over the top) in the launch phase: Dazn has continued to invest to upgrade the platform and is said to be "ready for the new season ", even if the infrastructural delays of broadband in Italy remain. The Sky-Dazn agreement would fit into a scenario of deep integration between the platforms. We try to broaden the base of enthusiasts by exploiting all the available technologies. The sky itself operates not only on satellite but also via fibre, on digital terrestrial and in streaming with Now TV: Serie A is visible everywhere. And Dazn, who has spent a lot of rights (the B and lots of foreign football, with the Champions on Sky), needs to widen the distribution as much as possible to get back the investment in a medium-long term perspective.

New official planning

There are eight time windows for the 2018-21 cycle. Except for the first two championship days which feature a "summer" format concentrated between 6 and 8.45 pm to avoid the hottest hours, the single slots are as follows: on Sky on Saturday at 3 pm and at 6 pm, the Sunday at 6pm and 8.45pm and Monday at 8.45pm; on Dazn on Saturday at 8.45pm and on Sunday at 12.30pm. Only one common time slot, the one at 15.00 on Sunday: two games on Sky and one on Dazn. Sky, which invested 780 million euros annually on Serie A, had the opportunity to choose the date and time of 16 of the 20 big matches envisaged by the contract with the League; the remaining four are the prerogative of the Ott platform, which entered Italy last year with an investment of 193 million per season for the top-flight straight. The clubs of A are already looking to the future: in the autumn the aim is to publish the call for TV rights of 2021-24, but first (by 30 September) it will be necessary to decide what to do with Mediapro's proposal on the thematic channel.
