Leicester are ready to offer Harry Maguire an improved contract to reflect his newfound global status and ward off suitors, as The Daily Mail reports.

The centre back has attracted major attention for his performances at the World Cup and Manchester United are understood to be considering a £50million approach.

But Leicester are poised to open talks on fresh terms that would likely take his weekly wage from £45,000 to around £75,000 and place him among the club's highest earners.

This is a great example how football wages and transfer fees inflate. Maguire was not really crème de la crème in Premiership just a month ago. He was a great defender for struggling Leicester. After just 6 games at the world cup (one of them against weak Panama, another versus not-so-strong to say the least Tunisia) any England player is amazingly boosted in terms of salary and expectations for them.

Maguire is a great guy, but he failed to save Hull from relegation and did not make anything special with Leicester. Still, now he is a star. Well, kind of if you consider offers he gets.
