Shocking news came from soccer legend Diego Maradona. The former Argentina national team star reportedly passed away at the age of 60. Maradona died of cardiac arrest. The Argentine football legend breathed his last at his home on Wednesday (11/25/2020).
In early November, Maradona underwent surgery due to a subdural hematoma, which is a blood clot on the surface of the brain. The operation which took place at the Olivos clinic, Ipensa Sanatorium in La Plata, Argentina, the neurologist who handled Maradona's surgery, Dr. Leopoldo Luque, said Maradona experienced good development after the operation which took place on Tuesday (3/11).
Luque stated that the blood clot that was located between the membranes and brain of Maradona usually happened because of an accident, but Maradona does not remember having experienced the incident.
Three days after turning 60 on October 30, Maradona was rushed to the hospital due to suspicions of dehydration, anemia and depression.
On his birthday, Maradona who was coach of Gimnasia La Plata, reportedly had difficulty walking at the end of the first half of a match.
Family and relatives have confirmed the operation that Maradona underwent was going well.
Fans and world football figures, including Lionel Messi, prayed for Maradona via social media after news broke that the scorer of God's Hand in the 1986 World Cup was hospitalized.
Even the President of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez, and President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro are said to have also paid attention to the current condition of Maradona through the star's lawyer, Matia Morla.
After being released from the hospital, Maradona is rumored to be undergoing recovery at his home in Buenos Aires.
