Christiano Ronaldo, for some unknown reason, didn't show up in Monte Carlo for the ceremony where Luka Modrić received the annual award for the best European player. Why would that be? Oh, might it be because Ronaldo's ego is too upset because his highness isn't number one again? Let's rather hope it was some serious family reason that has kept him away.

The two of them were playing together in Real Madrid for years. Most of their fans still regard them as friends. Especially when Ronaldo made Luka cut his hair after the first season. The abomination, if you recall, was done by Ronald's personal hairdresser. :D During the times they were playing together Luka passed so many great balls to him, one cannot count. Only a few arrogant ones might argue that the 'Little Wizard' is not the best active midfielder in the world today.


So why this then?

Well, according to Ronaldo's coach, Allegri, Ronaldo was angry the day before. He scored 15 goals in the League of Champions and won the League (together with Modric). Ronaldo's manager Mendez called awarding Modric 'ridiculous'. How subtle, indeed!

Is it possible that one of the best players has so much anger, bitterness and ego within him that he is incapable of congratulating a true legend of our days - Luka Modrić, the captain of Croatian national selection that played in the finals of the World Cup 2018?

Could be. Sad for the one of the best forwards. Arrogance was never cool. No matter who you are nor what you do.
