With the cup games out of the way, clubs turn their focus back to the Premier League. In this fixture, we see Wolverhampton Wanderers travelling to the Etihad for this vital fixture for both clubs.

Key players in this fixture

Current form:

Manchester City:

The team are coming back off a nine-nil victory in the Carabao Cup against Burton Albion. Brimming with confidence, star players, such as Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho, will be fully fit for this fixture. They will be hoping to try and close the four point gap between themselves and Liverpool.

Manchester City have been boosted with the return of Kevin De Bruyne from injury. He was influencial to their title push last season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers:

Despite a two-nil loss to Crystal Palace in their last fixture, they have just knocked Liverpool, the league leaders, out of the FA Cup. This will send a message out to City; whatever they can do, so can Wolves. Rui Patricio has kept five clean sheets all season and will be hoping to add to this tally in this fixture.

Wolves like to move the ball around, so City must be wary that managers with similar ideas are coming face to face for the second time this season.

Previous fixture/s:

Earlier in the season, when the two sides met, it ended in stalemate. Goals from Aymeric Laporte and Boly kept the game apiece. However, City had may chances to score, but couldn't take them after hitting the post twice in the first half.

Wolves have not disappointed when it has come to playing the top 6: they are the team with the most amount of points picked up against the top 6 this season, for the teams that are not part of that group. Picking up an average of 1.2 points per game against the 'big boys', they pose a threat to the City side in good form. They also have the most goals scored and the least goals conceded against them. This is exceedingly impressive for a side that was in the Championship last season.

However, the problem seems to be coming from Wolves dropping points against lower teams such as Crystal Palace.

Predictions:

As a City supporter, I would be delighted with a victory for the blue side of Manchester, but I believe that it will be a struggle for the team. I believe that Wolves maypick up a scrappy goal or two, but in the end, City's class will be too much to handle.

Prediction: Manchester City 3 - 1 Wolverhampton Wanderers
