Real Madrid missed the chance to go eleven points clear on the top of the table as an early Enes Unal strike was the only goal that determined the tie.

Enes Unal robbed Eder Militao of the ball in Madrid's penalty area to slot the ball in and give Getafe an early lead. Then followed waves and waves of Madrid pressure but Getafe stood firm as Real Madrid did force Getafe goalie David Soria to a superb save when he tipped off Luka Modric's long-range effort.

Real Madrid also missed a couple of chances to get back into the game when Toni Kroos fired wide and Luka Modric also saw a left-footed effort hit the woodwork.

Real Madrid upped the tone in the second half but Getafe was dogged and resolute to the relentless pressure and Casemiro would have felt his strike was the equalizer only to be palmed to safety by David Soria.

The defeat leaves Real Madrid eight points clear of second-placed Sevilla who has two games in hand while the win sees Getafe three points from the relegation zone.
