It was nearly going to be a night of wailing and criticism until Patrick Aubameyang scored a brilliant free kick to win Arsenal all three points.

Virtually everyone, including the bookies all thought Arsenal will be having a walk-in-the-park against Aston villa based on the recent performance of the gunners but that feeling or thought looked blur the moment Aston Villa took the lead in the 20th minute to everyone’s surprise.

The Arsenal defense was caught ball watching while John McGinn sneaked in and scored a set piece. The match continued with Arsenal bossing possession but with no end product until half time. The second half witnessed Matteo Guendouzi taking up a more attacking role and eventually won them a penalty which Nicolas Pepe converted. Not long after Arsenal’s equalizer, Aston Villa struck again, this time through striker Wesley.

Arsenal looked like they have given up hope of getting at least a point from the game until Calum Chambers equalized for the gunners and brought life back into the team.

Arsenal continued to attack and finally won a free kick close to the eighteen yard box which Piemerrick Aubameyang beautifully converted to win Arsenal all three points.

Conclusion

This match was dull of surprises. Not only did Arsenal struggle badly to get the three points, the Arsenal players were a complete shadow of the same Arsenal that won in midweek European game. Perhaps it is down to fatigue due to the travels and congested fixtures but if Arsenal is willing to win a trophy this season, they must be willing to cross the red sea at all cost.
