One of the most luckiest of human beings, after bringing unexpected fortunes to the club of his and every football player’s dream, he finally followed the direction his masters have long been pointing towards.

Today, Keylor Navas is officially no longer a Real Madrid player and he had it coming ever since his entry into the club.

It seems just like yesterday when Keylor was bought as a backup or replacement for club legend Iker Casillas after an amazing 2013/2014 season with Levante was followed by an impressive world cup campaign. Keylor was okay to compete with Iker Casillas for a season as it was certain the Spaniard was nearing his end at the club he did unimaginable things for but wonders would follow after Casillas’ retirement, Keylor continued to be seen as a second wife with lower offerings while Real Madrid heightened the pursuit for David De Gea from Manchester United.

Due to being a top goal keeper and well experienced in the position, it was agreed Keylor would be used for an exchange with David De Gea. The move was minutes away from happening before fate intervened. A faulty fax machine story would see Keylor stay back at Real Madrid and David, Manchester United.

Keylor would go on to win the hearts of the Real Madrid fan base with series of amazing performances. The Costa Rican goalie produced rare cat-like reflexes save known to be produced only by top keepers and he earned his place as the first choice and unsteadied every Real Madrid faithful that wanted him sold.

Keylor would go on to win three straight Uefa Champions League titles with Real Madrid, a league trophy and the Spanish Super Copa but despite all these winnings, Real Madrid never stopped seeking his departure. Yes, it is true Keylor is over 33 years old and Real Madrid needed a younger keeper for the future but not only did they insult Keylor with the way they went about it, they brought a keeper he is very much better than, Thubiat Courtois.

Age is never an excuse to let go of your legend and worst in a disrespectable way. Oliver Kahn stood in between the sticks for club and country even at an age higher than that of Keylor today but was still adored and favored. Buffon played for Juventus right until he hit 40 and retained his high level of performances. Now, even if you are going to put up your great player for sale, why not make certain you have the right replacement? I am in no way trying to insult Courtois reputation as a goalie but the facts and reality is there for unbiased people to see.

As a Real Madrid fan, it is highly painful to watch Keylor leave for Paris Saint Germain simply because he wants to remain top choice. If he was replaced with a keeper of better quality than the Costa Rican, it is very apparent I won’t be writing this piece, but here I am again, complaining of the recurrent flaws of Real Madrid.
