"Real Madrid 4-1 Huesca." Somebody pinch me please. I want to be certain I am not dreaming. What!!!???
When was the last time Real Madrid scored four goals in an official match and also led by a three goal difference. I couldn't get the information or think it up but I am pretty sure it has been a very long time; long enough for me to have forgotten or lost touch despite following the club's news daily.
The goals that seemed to be lacking for a while in Zidane's team appears to be pouring in and it all started at Camp Nou.
Real Madrid hit 3 goals for the first time in a very long time against Barcelona on their turf and scored another two against Monchengladbach in less than ten minutes. Huesca will collect four next and Inter Milan will apparently collect theirs, who knows, might be up to five. LOL
The Madrid team started off in usual fashion against Huesca today. Playing conservatively, passing the ball from one end of the field to another and waiting for the right time and space to carve out open in the Huesca defense which doesn't look like happening, just like it refused to happen in the first 80 minutes at Germany.
Injury returnee Eden Hazard apparently knew they won't keep passing the ball around like that and once again wait for the opponent to open the scoring before they come roaring at them like a devastated and starved lion, the Belgian took matters into his own hand, created space for himself and unleashed a rocket of a shot with his left foot from 25 yards out to open the scoring in the 40th minute.
Benzema would go on to make it 2 in the 45th minute and Real Madrid go into half time leading by two goals. What a relief that would have been for Zidane.
The whites continued their rout in the second half as Valverde made it 3 in the 54th minute before Zidane made changes with eyes set on Inter Milan. Those changes apparently swept the game in favor of Huesca, at least a bit, as it changed the formation and organization of the Real Madrid team. Leading Huesca to scrap open the defense, catch Ramos thinking about his wife's special kumuchi dinner (whatever that means), instead of marking the Huesca striker running forward who would eventually put a cross into the net to reduce the goal deficit to 2.
Real Madrid rallied through Vinicius, Isco, Mendy and Rodrygo for Benzema to make it four at 90 minutes.
The match ended 4-1 and all Real Madrid players get to go home happy men with eyes set on Inter Milan in midweek. It was a good win and one that would spark great confidence in the goal scoring instincts of the team going forward. At least that's my hope.
