There is another harsh reality that will dawn come end of season on the big spenders of Europe, bossing the glorious walls of French most successful team, Paris Saint Germain, and that is that "money is not everything".
You will agree with me that many think when they have so much money to go round and back, they can make the world stop and order heaven and earth to exchange positions. The pitiable situation of Paris Saint Germain over the last few years is a painful reminder that money is good, very good, but it does not solve all your problems.
In the last few years, ever since the reign of PSG was taken upon by Arab Billionaires, much money have been pumped into the team, mainly for acquisition of star players that will make them conquer Europe. Unfortunately, this plan has not seemed to work, no matter how much money is spent.
Past summer, PSG splashed millions once again and managed to recruit top, old and apparently weak stars in Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos, with the hope they will bring their conquering and championship mentality to France but as it has been for the past years, it is still not going to plan.
Lionel Messi on his own part is looking nothing but a complete shadow of himself in France and Sergio Ramos' contract was reported to be almost cancelled after he spent months on the sidelines as a result to injury. Although they are already 13 points clear in the league table as leaders and poised to lift the French league again, their major priority remains the league of men; THE UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.
PSG's top performer this season Mbappe is currently giving them a lot of headache as he is yet to sign a new contract, with his old contract set to expire come summer. Mbappe was tipped to be one of the notable stars that will grant PSG that one thing they endlessly seek, but the Frenchman appears to have seen and had enough in France, and is seeking life elsewhere.
You have to feel nothing but pity for the billionaires of PSG. It feels really bad amassing all these wealth and power but something is refusing to bow to your will. LIFE!
