The current news reaching us is an amazing one as Manchester United has signed Leicester City’s Harry Maguire for a whooping record fee of 80 Million Euros. Maguire is now the most expensive defender in football after Virgil Van Dijk of Liverpool who was bought for 75 Million Euros last season.

Manchester United’s coach Ole Solksjaer is reported to have eyes and mind set on rebuilding the team. Every signing the team has made this season is pointing to that direction with Aaron Wan Bissaka, James and now Maguire all young enough to power the team for close to a decade and reports still going on of a possible recruitment of Sporting CP’s Bruno Fernanes, although he is looked unto as a possible replacement for French talented midfielder Paul Pogba who is reported might be heading out of the club before the season starts. One thing however I am contemplating on is if Manchester United is going to wrestle the title away from two consecutive times defending champions Manchester City with these signings.

What is the Red devils Chances of Lifting EPL Title this Season?

This is a hilarious question yet entertaining and worth excogitating on considering the “unbelievable” that has hit us many times in football up until today. The likes of Ajax running up to the semi finals of the Uefa Champions League when many forgot they were a part of the competition, the likes of Chelsea FC lifting the Uefa Champions League in 2013 against all odds and several others. So you see, football isn’t predictable in some cases but we judge according to facts and then await the outcome.

Manchester City is tipped to defend their EPL title successfully once again after lifting it for the second consecutive time last season and they are looking to make it three straight. The only team that is carefully calculated to be able to get close to wrestling the title away from them is Liverpool FC. Last season, Liverpool FC chased the Etihad men up until the end of the season and the Citizens ended up lifting the title with a point difference.

What we have learnt over the years about possibilities of teams lifting league trophies is that they have to remain consistent and Manchester City and Liverpool have been the only consistent team in the EPL and are looked unto to replicate the same performance they showed last season.

Manchester City is able to keep running steadily for the past two seasons because they have got the right players and the right coach. Liverpool puzzled out what was lacking in their team last two seasons with more recruitments added to strengthen the squad and they not only chased Manchester City in the league to the last day of the season, they lifted the Uefa Champions League. That speaks volume of a complete and willing squad.

Manchester United apparently do not have the experience in their squad players like Manchester City and Liverpool do but can they lift the title if the current players they have are willing? I guess so. Looking at the current squad, with their defence strengthening, attack and midfield solidity, it will only take willingness from the players to wrestle the title away from Manchester City.

The current position or the heights the United fans set for themselves right now is a champions league spot next season but are they should know their team can go further than that.
