The much anticipated night of statement making has come and gone and I somehow wished it never came. I thought they were ready and oh boy did I thought wrong.

Real Madrid travelled to Germany with full morale and energy, or so I thought. They were coming into this match from the back of an impressive win against one of Europe's best teams, Barcelona.

They were apparently geared up for the match and they went into it with much enthusiasm which showed in the first 20 minutes of the game. They dominated proceedings but unfortunately, that was all they really did.

Without pushing forward to carve out clear cut chances, they played a conservative game just like they did against Barcelona. Waiting for the opponent to leave spaces open for manipulation.

Those spaces never came. Kudos to Marco Rose who set up his team in impressive fashion that they knew exactly when to press high and when to sit back and absorb pressure.

Borussia Monchengladbach found themselves lucky on the other end with a counterattack that put them in front. They protected their lead perfectly until they hit another 13 minutes after the resumption of the second half. Amidst missed chances from Benzema and Vinicius, with Asensio hitting the crossbar, Borussia would have made it three if not for Thubait Courtois.

Real Madrid will wake in the 75 minute and begin to take the game to the Germans from all end. Zidane made good changes that changed the course of the game as Modric and Hazard brought a more direction to the attack with Rodrygo completing the comeback motive.

The whites would go on to force a comeback with two difficult moments in which Casemiro struggled to keep a ball that was almost going out for Benzema to play in and the Brazilian scoring the second after Sergio Ramos brought it down for him with his head.

That is a hard fought draw worthy of applaud because coming back from two goals down against a team like Borussia Monchengladbach and in their turf is not an easy task but all the same, Real Madrid should have avoided those two goals and even outscored their opponent.

Once again, it is a night in which I lost another massive SCR at Betscorum and watch my favorite team struggle to challenge in a competition that apparently seems like their birthright.

That will be all from me for now. Thanks for reading.
