Although this might be a friendly encounter but there is every reason to remain calm, positive and trust Gernot Rohr to continue his effective managing of the Nigerian National Team.

This was a must-win-game for Brazil after going three consecutive games without a win. The Selecao approached the match with their best line up which included Paris Saint Germain’s in-form attacker, Neymar Junior.

The Super Eagles on the other hand are still grieving over the loss of their very important players. First it was goal keeper Vincent Enyeama long before the 2018 World Cup. Victor Moses followed after the world cup while John Mikel Obi and Odin Ighalo retired after the conclusion of the African Nations Cup earlier this year.

All these notable exits especially that of striker Odin Ighalo have been met with an uncomfortable feeling but that can be overcome after watching their display against Super Eagles yesterday.

Brazil started the match on the front foot, looking the more dangerous between both teams until Neymar out of the epic battle with an apparent injury and Coutinho was substituted in his place. Gradually the Super Eagles began to grow into the game and in the 35th minute, Rangers striker Aribo displayed his striking predatory instincts as he latched onto a loose ball in the 18 yard box and fired past Ederson to take Nigeria one goal up.

That goal defined how strong the Super Eagles have been up until that goal moment despite having to do much of the running.

The half time finished with the Super Eagles leading the half time team talks will be positive for them and apparently not funny for Brazil.

The second half incepted the same way the first half started with Brazil pulling the strings and they were rewarded for their hard work in the 52nd minute with Casemiro heading in a rebound.

Both teams ran their socks off the ball but failed to find the back of the net for the remaining minutes of the game and it is another draw for Brazil.

Conclusion

It is important to note that the youngest of the Super Eagle squad that faced Brazil yesterday was 24 yet they played maturely. Gernot Rohr is undoubtedly doing a great job in filling any hole in the team even the ones left by very important players. Watching the confidence of the young lads yesterday, every fan of the Super Eagles can feel delighted and confident of progress in the National team.
