It is no longer news that the Capital of Spain team ended last season in the most disappointing manner, unworthy of a team of their calibre but it is quite understandable recognizing the fact that nothing lasts forever. There cometh a season or a time when teams struggle to find the same rhythm that brought them immeasurable successes, sometimes due to change of team managers, loss of crucial players or dressing room issues. In the case of Real Madrid, they not only lost their best player for over a decade, they lost a rare team managing icon in Zinedine Zidane and also lost the team’s winning mentality. At the end of the horrible season, one thing was clear; the team needed a real change.

The Bernabeu revolution change began with Coach Zinedine Zidane returning to the bench close to the end of the season. With the open of the transfer window came the negotiation of essential players of which talented professionals were signed. Popular Belgian Eden Hazard was snatched from Chelsea FC to replace former talisman Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Jovic was signed as a backup striker to Karim Benzema while Rodrygo Goes, Takefusa Kubo were young talents bought with eyes set on the future. The signings were of great quality and essence and they appropriately covered the necessary positions except for the centre of the pitch which is still calling for help.

There have been rumours of a possible transfer of Paul Pogba from Manchester United or Christian Eriksen from Tottenham to help strengthen Real Madrid’s options in midfield but all of a sudden, the tides changed. We saw our focus shifted to a superfluous transfer story which is the recruitment of Brazilian winger in Neymar Junior, UNBELIEVABLE.

I, as a true fan of Real Madrid met the Neymar news with utmost disbelief. I am not in anyway doubting the capabilities of Neymar, of course he is going to bring more flair and fun to the team with his style of play but why Real Madrid is seeking the services of an apparent greedy and unserious Brazilian eludes me till this moment.

The whites are said to be in contention with Barcelona for securing the services of the Brazilian and I beg to ask Florentino Perez or whoever is in charge of this transfer process(if at all the rumours are true) what exactly is the Brazilian coming to do at the Bernabeu, score goals or exhibit skills? For crying out loud, why was Eden Hazard bought? Why is Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes and other attackers present in the team there? There are talented and willing players currently in the team, players apparently more eager to show their worth and willing to give up their last sweat for the team than the Brazilian would do but I am lost in thought exactly of what Real Madrid are going to do with these players when Neymar arrives.

Neymar as we all know thrives on the wings and is also not a player that would be bought for the bench. The Brazilian’s favourite wing is the left wing and that is where Vinicius Junior and Eden Hazard thrive in as well. I wonder if President Florentino Perez is willing to sell Vinicius Junior or resell Hazard or worst, inconvenience the Belgian for a while with adaptation to a new role all just to accommodate Neymar. Whichever is their plan, I just can’t seem to smell what exactly Real Madrid is cooking.
