As far as football is concerned, there are two Manchesters. A football match between Manchester United and Manchester City is termed Manchester Derby. And guess what? It’s happening few hours from now. City will be welcoming the Red Devils at Etihad and the match would determine a lot. Guardiola’s boys are currently topping the league table with 29 points and if they fail to win, either Chelsea or Liverpool might top them. Manchester United on the other hand needs to be in the top four spot as quickly as possible. If the match ends in a draw, it wouldn’t be too cool for both teams but it’s still manageable. It’s indeed a tough match.

Both teams have met 176 times and Manchester United won 73 out of it. City won 51 while they drew the remaining 52. Manchester was always the favorites then; they have a great football history and are the king of EPL. But in recent times (from 2011), Manchester City has won 9 out of 19, Man United has won 8 while they drew just 2. It has always been tough between both teams. It never mattered if one of them was in great form – the players brings out their best in the derbies.

The last time they met, Manchester United won the match at Etihad despite the great form Manchester City had. Can they repeat it again today? It’s just a matter of time to find out. Let’s take a look at the possible starting lineups.

Guardiola is used to 4-3-3 formation and would definitely be using it today. He won his last match in the champions league. The score line proved how dangerous they can be. Kyle Walker, John Stones, Laporte and Mendy might play as the defenders. Mendy had a minor injury though and may not be in the starting lineup. Bernado Silva, David Silva and Fernandinho has always been fantastic in the midfield area while Aguero, Mahrez and Sterling will lead the attack as usual. With Ederson at the goal post, Manchester City would be ready to defeat the Red Devils.

Mourinho has been trying to prove his worth to his fans after his team woeful performances at the beginning of the season. His win against Juventus showed he can still be relied on. Lately, he has been using Smalling, Lindeloef, Young and Shaw as his defenders; Pogba, Matic and Mata holds the midfield while Martial, Rashford and Lukaku attacks; and that completes the 4-3-3 formation. But now that Lingard is back, we might see some little changes in the lineup. Sanchez isn’t neglected too. The Portuguese might come up with another style to defeat City. Nevertheless, he needs at least a draw to gain the full confidence of his fans.
