Man City vs Cardiff City Match Preview

Defending Champions Manchester City host Cardiff City at the Etihad stadium on Wednesday, 3rd of April. This will be the tie to kick start a busy month for a quadruple chasing City side as the 2018/19 season heads into its business end. Manchester City will be keen to string another win here to return to the top of the standings after falling down to second following Liverpool's late win against Tottenham last weekend.

Cardiff, on the other hand, will be keen to puts points on board as they continue their battle against the drop. The Bluebirds arrive in Manchester on the back of a disheartening loss to Chelsea at the weekend and will fancying their chances to unsettle another top side. Neil Warnock's side had Chelsea in their sight for long periods of the game in the Welsh Capital up until César Azpilicueta headed in Chelsea's equalizer. It's fair to say a number of big calls went against Cardiff; two potential penalties, a possible red card for Rudiger and that offside goal that was allowed to stand.

In a relegation cat fight where every point could make a huge difference at the end of the season, Cardiff can't afford to sit back and lick their wounds. They have a bigger fish to fry. Any points dropped here by City could be pivotal in where the title ends in May. Cardiff aren't the most offensive of sides in the league but they simply can't afford to drop any more points. Whether they can sting a City side without topscorer Sergio Kun Aguero remains to be seen. The Argentine was taken off midway through City's routine win at Fulham and will miss this tie. Gabriel Jesus is likely to start upfront for Pep Guardiola's side.

City strolled to a 5-0 last time out and while another routine win is expected by many here, the Citizens might have to work their socks off for the three points.

Betting Preview

Back City to win has no value whatsoever, so why not dig deep and try to find something worth the risk?

Cardiff aren't prolific scorers and especially so on the road. The Welsh side have scored just 9 goals from 14 away games this season. However the situation demands that they have to fight. Any positive results would be welcomed by the away supporters. I am backing the Bluebirds to breach City's rearguard and also concede at one unit. For the fun of it an the grand scheme of things, throwing half a unit into the draw here might just be the wild card of the week
