The retired trainer and former soccer player,Louis van Gaal, has signed himself up for a new task. He will train the most expensive team in the history of football. The group of people he will train are a selection of the Quote 500.
Business magazine Quote makes a yearly list of the 500 richest people from the Netherlands. A group of Dutchmen out of this list got selected to play a charity match for "spieren voor spieren" (Muscles for muscles). The charity collects money for research about neuromuscular diseases. This charity match will target children specifically and will sponsor the families for being able to buy the medicine and finance the treatment their child needs.
The competition are retired professional soccer players. Former Barcelona midfielder Ronald de Boer, Feynoord player Pierre van Hooijdonk and Ajax player Sjaak Swart will be joining together to put the screws to van Gaal's team.
Louis van Gaal wasn't chosen randomly. He and his wife, Truus, have been ambassador of the cause since 2000. In 2014 he has been given the status of honorary ambassador of "spieren voor spieren".
The charity match will take place at September 24.
