It's another week of football Ecstasy gone, but however we're still left with some beautiful and not so beautiful moments from the round leather game, last week
Wayne Rooney made a glorious return to the English national team, VAR was finally accepted into the premier league, and we witnessed the relegation of football powerhouse Germany, to the nations league B, without further ado here are the best and worst moments from football last week
Best moment
England get Revenge against Croatia
England fans would not forget in a hurry the heartbreak, Mario mandzukic caused them at the world cup semi finals in Russia, when the Croatian completed a comeback victory for his country, England's seemingly surprising world cup campaign was abruptly ended
But they were offered the chance to get revenge against the Croats in the Uefa nations league, and they took it quite similarly, although the first leg was a dismal goalless draw between the two, there was no way the three lions were passing up their next opportunity, it seemed like a recurring performance, except this time, it was Croatia who took the lead, through a brilliant solo goal, from Andrej kramaric, the hoffeinhiem striker, twisted and turned so many bodies in the England defence before slotting home,
England however responded through Jesse lingard, who had the simple task of tapping home, after an unco-ordinated clearance from Croatia in the box, following an england set piece, the comeback was completed in the second half, captain harry Kane, was there to slide home the winner, and effective of this victory means, England finish top of their group, and hereby condemned Croatia to the uefa nations league B, yeah what a story, definitely a good moment for England fans
Worst Moment
Germany Relegated to Uefa Nations league B
Their relegation, to the league b of the uefa nations league, doesn't quite tell the story, the story of Germany's painful fall, from the very top of World football, but it was imminent, especially after their disastrous world cup campaign, we always saw it coming, although by this time last year, they were wrapping up an unbeaten world cup qualifying campaign and were still seen as favourites to retain their, world cup crown, but things took a downturn soon after and has culminated in a rather embarrassing relegation to league B of the Nations league, after a 2-nil defeat by The Netherlands
But what exactly went wrong for the German machines?, Germany's setup us now a more youthful one, with just a handful of some veteran players left in the team, the likes of Phillip lahm, Bastian schweinsteiger, miroslav klose and mesut ozil all retiring from the national team, these player's had more often than not been the backbone of the team, it is indeed a new generation of German football players, and with the way things are going, the future for the national team, is looking pretty bleak, not a good moment at all for all those affiliated with German football
Best moment
Netherlands resurgence to the top of international football
While Germany have been sliding down a dangerous path, the Dutch national team have been sprinting up a pretty smooth one
The Netherlands however did suffer a more brutal fall than the Germans are experiencing now, failing to qualify for the past two major tournaments, including the Euro 2016, But however its been an upturn in form for them ever since and they've been on a very smooth ride ever since and they've more or less been instrumental to Germany's fall after defeating them twice in the league campaign, the future is looking bright for the Dutch national team, with a talented crop of players, spearheaded by former Manchester united striker, Memphis depay, the disappointments of the past seem long gone now, a proud moment for the players and fans alike
Worst Moment
VAR Finally accepted into the English Premier league
No doubt this decision would have lifted some spirits, but some or most however we're left for dead, so this definitely deserves to be considered a "worst moment", to sympathise with our poor football fans
Not that it wasn't imminent, intact it was always a done deal the moment it began trials in England, the FA were just simply stalling it, But last week however they finally gave the go ahead order and the VAR is now set to feature in the premier league starting from next season
