It was the much-anticipated premier league encounter between two of the most exciting teams in the premier league. Manchester City who are the current title holders and are looking to make it 3 in a row, hosted Spurs who are aiming to surpass their achievements last season, for a chance to make it 2 wins in a row in their second game of the season. It was a game that ended in a stalemate and both teams share equal amount of the pie at the Etihad stadium.

Man City as usual began their premier league campaign in style last weekend with a 5 nil thumping of the Hammers. They went into this game against Spurs as the slight favorites playing at home. However, it was a very difficult game for them against a very strong team like Spurs who are also aiming for greater heights this season.

Spurs also began their season in style, getting a comfortable 3-1 victory over newly-promoted Aston Villa side came into this game as the underdogs against the current premier league champions. It was a very difficult game for them, but however, they ensured that they got a positive result out of the game and will be happy with the way they performed tonight.

Brief Post-Match Analyses

As usual for any high profile game, the atmosphere was really fantastic at the City of Manchester Stadium, with lots of fans all excited for the game.

Manchester City setup in their usual 4-3-3 formation while Spurs on the other hand, setup in a similar 4-2-3-1 formation. The game began and the first minutes of the game saw City control the game with more possession of the ball and trying to find a way through. Man City took charge for most parts of the game, taking the lead twice in the first half but couldn’t hold on to the lead long enough as Spurs got themselves back in the game twice to share points.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring in the 20th minute, converting a pinpoint cross to give Man City the lead.

Erik Lamela scored the equalizer for Spurs 2 minutes later, placing the ball past the goalkeeper from outside the box to give Spurs the all-important equalizer.

Sergio Aguero restored the lead for Man City in the 35th minute, directing the ball home from a low cross by De Bruyne. Two assists from De Bruyne to change the scoreline to 2-1 before half time.

Lucas Moura came in an instant second-half super sub to get Spurs back into the game for the second time in the 56th minute, heading in a corner kick cross to ensure the Spurs earn a positive point in this game.

It was a great game of football by two of the best-attacking teams in Europe. A difficult game for both teams as they both settle with a single point at the City of Manchester Stadium.
