So far, the ongoing FA cup games have been going on pretty well and this week’s FA Cup showdown was an exciting one with some cracking results. Yesterday was a remarkable one for Norwich and their fans as they came back from a goal down to steal the victory away at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on penalties shootouts. Still on FA Cup fixtures, Man United will also be involved in their 5th round match against Derby County as they aim to make it through to the quarter-finals.
Derby County are in a very difficult position in the championship at the moment, sitting 13th on the table as their chances of making it into the premier league next season become very slim. The FA cup is a very good competition for them and winning it would be an unforgettable moment for them. They will be going up against Man United at home, a very difficult game for them, but their last memory against Man United will give them the confidence that they can get the job done against the Red Devils if they put in a top-level performance like they did last seasons.
Derby County are expected to set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Playing at home would give them confidence going into this game, however, they are playing against a top premier league side which means that they would most likely approach this game differently. They will most likely be aiming to capitalize on counter-attacking chances in the game to hurt Man United.
Man United are beginning to find a bit of form recently and are looking to carry that form into this game against Derby. So far so good, the top 4 is still very much within their reach as they continue to keep mounting pressure on Chelsea for the top 4 spot. While they are focusing on snatching the top 4 from Chelsea, they are also keeping their eyes on the Europa League as that is another very good avenue for them to play champions league football next season. At the moment, they are pushing hard to win the FA Cup as well as they continue their FA Cup quest against Derby County in few hours’ time. They are the favourites to get the job done at the iPro Stadium, however, their last experience with Derby County proves that Derby aren't an easy team to play against.
Man United are expected to set up in a 3-4-3 for a 4-2-3-1 formation. As the superior team, they are expected to dominate major aspects of the game and are also expected to get the job done.
What do you think will be the outcome of this fixture?
I would love to read your thoughts and opinions… Enjoy your day.
