It was an exciting premier league matchday yesterday as there were quite a number of interesting fixtures. Chelsea locked horn against a stubborn Newcastle side at the bridge as they got the job done to make it five wins in their last five games in all competition. In other results, Man City got a solid away 3 points against Crystal Palace to return back to winning ways and Spurs slip yet again as they manage to secure a point against Watford.

Chelsea this season under Frank Lampard have been impressive, with the exception of a few ups and downs. Their last five matches in all competitions have seen the Blues claim maximum points as they look forward to another champions league battle against Ajax. Chelsea’s game against Newcastle was a tricky one as Newcastle has already taken maximum points against Tottenham and Man United this season. It was a game that really proved tricky for the Blues as they had to wait patiently late in the second half to find a breakthrough after Newcastle made it really difficult for Chelsea in the game. All thanks to Marcos Alonso for his 73rd-minute strike to give Chelsea the crucial 3 points.

Man City returns back to winning ways with their 2 nil away win against Crystal Palace to regain their second position on the table. A lot of talking points had surrounded Man City this season especially after their 2 nil loss at home against Wolves before the international break, however, they have quickly gotten that behind them and are now back to winning ways. Similar to the Man City vs Wolves fixture, Crystal Palace is another team that can upset the big boys on their day, which made this fixture against Man City a tricky one as well as City still have memories when these two sides met last season. Nevertheless, Man City proved that they are not fazed with what happed in their last fixture and got the solid win to regain their spot on the table. Gabriel Jesus and David Silva ensured Man City walks away Selhurst Park with all 3 points.

Spurs on the other, slipped yet again in their game against Watford as they only manage to secure a draw yesterday. Similar to Man United this season, Spurs are also in a similar boat as a lot of talking points are currently surrounding them based on how poor they’ve been in their past games. In the game, things were already going against Spurs when they found themselves a goal down just 6 minutes into the game, however, Dele Alli’s 86th-minute controversial equalizer gave Spurs the disappointing draw.

These results mean that Chelsea are now 4th on the table, Man City restores their 2nd position while Spurs fins themselves in 7th position.
