Finally, the 2018/2019 premier league comes to an end and we have Manchester City clinch their second league title in a row under Pep. It has been yet another incredible season for Pep and his team but might probably say that this season has been his best ever season in charge of the club. Mancity wins back-to-back premier league titles since Sir Ferguson did it during his days at Man United. An exciting season it has been, a season that has been filled with lots of various emotions and drama, but above all, it was a great season most especially for Mancity who ends their 2018/2019 season with 2 trophies in their locker.
Man City had a lot to play for in this game, knowing fully well that any result other than a win would stop them from winning the title, but will be happy to comfortably get the job done in a game that proved tricky at the start. A great achievement for them this season, and they will now look back and be very proud of what they have done and the level that they have set the bar.
Brighton didn’t really have anything to play for, but for home pride and possibly go into the history books of Liverpool as the team that helped them win their first premier league title for so many years. But things didn’t turn out as wished, but will overall be happy to have secured their stay in the premier league and live to fight again next season.
Brief Post-Match Analyses
It was a fantastic atmosphere at the Falmer Stadium, both teams knew what was at stake, but for Brighton, it was all about giving City a good game and ensuring that they work hard for the title.
Brighton lineup in their usual 4-5-1 formation, while Mancity lineup in their usual 4-3-3 formation. The game began and Brighton already started proving tricky during the early parts of the first half, going in front with a goal, but the instant response from Mancity was enough to get a comfortable victory to win them their back-to-back premier league titles.
Murray opened the scoring for the day with a brilliant header from a corner kick in the 27th minute.
Aguero replied a minute later to draw the score level and restore belief into the team.
Laporte put City in front in the 38th minute, scoring a header from a corner.
Mahrez gave City the cushion lead in the 63rd, scoring a beautiful individual goal, a goal that meant that it was game over.
Gundogan sealed the victory in the 72nd minute with a fantastic freekick to round off what has been a fabulous season for the sky blue side of Manchester.
A great season it has been for some, while for some, it has been a fair season overall. Nevertheless, there are others who will probably call this season a disaster. Above all, the season has been good and everyone had equal chances of achieving their respective targets. With the drama, frustrations, and excitements this season has brought, the season has finally come to an end and we look forward to greater and more exciting times ahead.
And that is a wrap…
