Crystal Palace vs Manchester City

The international break have come to a halt as the much-anticipated premier league matchday action approaches. Coming up this Saturday are a number of exciting premier league fixtures as matchday 9 kicks off. Man City who are coming from a shocking 2 nil defeat at home against Wolves in their last game will be aiming to return back to winning ways as they face Crystal Palace away at the Selhurst Park.

A lot of expectations have surrounded Man City this season due to the success they attained in the past two seasons. However, things aren’t going as smoothly as hoped for. Currently, they are 8 points behind Liverpool who haven’t dropped a single points so far. This means that they can’t afford to drop any more points if they want to still be in the same bracket as Liverpool when it comes to the title race. This fixture against Crystal Palace is a very tricky one for them as Crystal Palace have done really well so far and are currently just 2 points behind City. Nevertheless, Man City are expected to get the job done and are clearly the favourites to get the 3 points.

For expected formation and tactic, Man City will most likely set up in their usual 4-3-3 formation. Pep will want his team to give an immediate reaction to their disappointing loss against Wolves in this fixture and to bounce back into winning ways. He will want his team to keep the ball and try to avoid giving out counter-attacking opportunities and also to be more clinical in front of goal.

Crystal Palace have been quite impressive in most of the games they’ve played so far and are coming from solid back-to-back wins. Considering how the likes of Man United and Spurs have performed in their recent games and the results they have gotten, Crystal Palace will be relishing the opportunity to finish not only in the top half of the table but also in the Europa League positions as well. They will be facing a very difficult game at home against the current league title holders Man City, a game that promises to be a huge mountain to climb for them, however, they’ve done it against City in the past and will be hoping to pull off another incredible win at home this Saturday.

For expected formation and tactic, Crystal Palace will most likely set up in their preferred 4-5-1 formation. They are going up against the best team in the league when it comes to keeping the ball and finding spaces in behind, so for Crystal Palace, it will be all about staying very compact as possible without leaving spaces for City to exploit and will be looking at capitalizing on counter-attacking and set-piece opportunities to hurt City.

What do you think will be the outcome of this fixture?
