It was the second to the last premier league matchday action, as we had the opportunity to witness yet another exciting matches. Liverpool who had a lot of eyeballs on them, including the eyes of their rivals, based on their title ambitions, faced a very tricky fixture away at Newcastle, to keep pushing and hoping to lift their most coveted target.

Newcastle didn’t really have anything to play for in the game but went into the game with a mindset to get a positive result at home and also to ensure that the reds work hard for the 3 points. It hasn’t been an easy season for Benitez’s men in terms of performances and results but will be more satisfied to have secured their stay in the premier league, as they hope for something great next season.

Liverpool are having their best ever season under Klopp as the manager and will be very proud for what they have done so far in terms of performances and results. Their ultimate goal is to win the premier league, but at the moment, they are hoping for City to drop points, or else, City will still retain the title with a 1 point lead at the top. For this fixture, they had only one target which is to get the crucial 3 points at all cost and will be very glad to have finally gotten the late winner after such an expected difficult game at St James’ Park.

It was a lively atmosphere at ST James’ Park, as both teams were all set to lock horns against each other.

Newcastle lineup in their usual 5-4-1 formation, while Liverpool lineup in their usual 4-3-3 formation. The game began and Liverpool wanted to make their intentions clear and getting the crucial opener, but Newcastle also showed that the meant business as well form most parts of the game, it was the reds who finally got the late winner to still keep their optimism alive.

Van Dijk scored the crucial first goal for Liverpool in the 13th minute, setting himself free from his marker to beautifully heading from a very good cross.

Atsu scored the equalizer for Newcastle 7 minutes later, firing from outside the box, after doing a great job getting himself into a very good shooting position.

Salah put Liverpool back in front in the 28th minute, placing the ball from close range, after a very nice team play.

Rondon canceled the lead in the 54th minute, firing in from close range inside the box, to put tension in the minds of the away fans and build pressure for Liverpool.

Origi became the savior for the day, as he scored the winning goal in the 86th minute, heading in from close range to send the Liverpool fans wild.

It was a good game and a very crucial victory for the reds to keep their optimism alive.
