West Ham vs Liverpool

The midweek premier league games have been completed and as always, it was packed with a lot of mixed emotions especially for the fans. Liverpool who are coming from another all-important win against Wolves yesterday, still have a fixture in hand to play against West Ham at the London Stadium this Wednesday.

West Ham have a real battle in their hands in this fixture against not only the best team in the premier league, but the best team in the world currently. The Hammers are in a very difficult situation at the moment and are batting in the relegation zone. They are currently level on points with the likes of Bournemouth and Watford who are sitting 18th and 19th on the table respectively and a positive result could give them the cushion above the relegation zone. Right now, the odds are seriously against now but it is not an impossible mission for them as on their day, they can cause the top teams a lot of problems like we have seen in the past.

The Hammers will be expected to set up in a 4-4-2 formation and will be aiming to make it difficult for Liverpool and stay very compact at the back while taking advantage of counter-attacking opportunities and possibly set-pieces as well.

Liverpool are already on the right path of going unbeaten this season and even going on to break the invisibles record held by Arsenal years back. They are currently on 22 wins out of 23 games played in the premier league and will be relishing the opportunity of making it 23 wins against West Ham before the break. Without a doubt, they are the only team that have been outstanding in the premier league and the only team in Europe’s top 5 leagues without a single loss at this stage of the season. Even though Liverpool will most likely win their first premier league this season, or simply put, have won the league already if we are to be realistic, however, technically, they still can lose out in the title race regardless of being very far above the rest, the number of games still left to play makes it possible if they lose more than 5 games, but we all know that the probability of that happening is ridiculously low at the moment. They will be going up against West Ham this Wednesday as they look forward to getting another all-important win before the break.

The Reds will be expected to set up in their usual 4-3-3 formation and are also expected to get all 3 points at the London Stadium. Liverpool know how important it will be to win the premier league at early and as quickly as possible, which means that they will be going into this game without any complacency what so ever and will be approaching the game to get the 3 points which is all that matters. In terms of gameplay, Liverpool will always be Liverpool and will most likely approach the game like they’ve done in their previous ones.

What do you think will be the outcome of this fixture?

I would love to read your thoughts and opinions… Enjoy your day.
