Manchester United

The pre-season campaign is getting more intense for all the teams involved and for Man United, it is no different as they were involved in yet another pre-season fixture against a very strong opponent. It was yet another much-anticipated pre-season match action for the United fans, as it was another chance to witness the fitness level of the team and also the performance of the players as they prepare for a tough challenge when the new season resumes. Going against an Inter Milan side who is now being managed by the ex-Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was always going to be a difficult match even though it was just a pre-season friendly game, but pride was a huge factor as players always want to win games like this and also to impress the manager especially in big games like this.

It hasn’t been an easy journey for Man United trying to get back to the level they once were under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson some years ago, gone through a couple of managers but are still yet to return back to the top as they were known to always be back in the days. They have decided to go into a new direction this time and have put their trust on club legend Solskjaer as the right man to lead them back to the top. Last season saw a lot of ups and downs for them finishing outside the top 4. Man United are having a good pre-season campaign so, preparing and keep hoping to get back on track next season.

Inter Milan are in the same boat as Man United as they haven’t been the team they once were in the past. They are now in a new phase under the management of Antonio Conte and have already begun their process of learning a new style of player, simply put, the Conte football. For them, they are still in the learning process and today was a great fixture for them to really access where they actually are in terms of fitness and how the new manager wants to play. This game against Man United was a real eye-opener for them and they will be looking to quickly learn from the loss and get themselves fully ready for the battle that awaits them next season as well.

Brief Post-Match Analyses

A great atmosphere it was at the Singapore National Stadium, as fans of both teams were all excited for the friendly clash.

Man United setup in a 4-2-3-1 formation while Inter Milan setup in the usual Conte 3-5-2 formation. Man United began the game as the livelier team and were actually the better team for most parts of the game in terms of possession and chances created. Inter Milan had their moments but it was so limited that they didn’t really threaten Man United enough throughout the game.

Mason Greenwood scored the only goal of the match for Man United in the 76th minute, collecting a punched out ball by the goalkeeper cutting inside to his favorite left foot before releasing a beautiful strike to find the far left of the net.

Pre-season actions are going well at the moment, lots of exciting fixtures coming up and we look forward to other great matches coming up.
