Spain

Spain national team, a nation that was once at the peak of their game when it comes to football, having a specific brand of football that conquered the footballing world. They haven’t been up to the level that they were at a few years ago, but are really pushing to get back to the top.

Still the mood of the ongoing UEFA EURO qualifiers actions, Spain and Norway also began their qualifiers match encounter against each other, in a tight game that was heavily influenced by awarded penalties for both teams, as Ramos panenka penalty was enough to get the job done at the Mestalla Stadium.

Brief Post-Match Analyses

It was an exciting atmosphere as usual at the Mestalla Stadium, with supporters of both nations all buzzing with loud cheers and chants as both teams were ready to battle it out.

The kickoff whistle was blown and the game began, Spain lineup in their favorite 4-3-3 formation while Norway, on the other hand, lined up in a 4-4-2 formation.

The game kickstarted and Spain immediately looked very dangerous, attacking and pushing for an early goal which finally came in the 16th minute before narrowly escaping with the victory. Norway also had their moments but were not clear cut enough to cause Spain troubles at the back.

Rodrigo opened the scoring for the match in the 16th minute, tapping in from close range after a fine play and pull back cross by Asensio. 1 nil to Spain very early in the game.

King equalized for Norway in the 65th minute from the penalty spot to restore optimism to the Norway supporters.

Ramos added his name to the scoresheet following a beautiful panenka penalty to win the game for Spain. A deserved victory and a reward for their fantastic performance. It was a great victory for Spain in their quest for the uefa euros qualification.

Before I conclude this piece, let us briefly take a look at the results of the other qualification match actions which took place yesterday as well…

Ireland defeated Gibraltar by a lone goal at the Victoria Stadium, scored by Jeff Hendrick in the 49th minute.

Italy saw off Finland 2-0 in Friuli, goals scored by Barella very early in the first half and Kean sealed the victory for the Italians in the 74th minute. A solid victory for the Italians.

Sweden who had a tough game against Romania finally got the job done, winning by 2-1. Goals by Quaison and Claesson were enough to get the job done for the Swedish.

Switzerland also had their share of the victory pie as they defeated Georgia by 2 nil. Goals scored by Zuber and Zakaria in the 56th and 80th minute respectively were enough to get the victory for them.

Greece wasn’t left out as they also got the job done against Liechtenstein by 2-0. Goals scored by Fortounis seconds before halftime and Donis in the 80th minute was all that was needed to get their name in the victory book.

Malta and Bosnia and Herzegovina both won their respective fixtures 2-1 to also get their share of the victory pie.

It was an exciting qualifiers matchday action with lots of great matches and amazing outcomes for most of the nations, maybe for some, it was a disappointing outing.

And that is a wrap…
