Coming up tomorrow is the final of this year’s edition of the AFCON (African Cup of Nations) tournament. A much anticipated final between two nations who have shown that they deserve to lay their hands on the ultimate prize. Senegal who are yet to win this competition will be battling it out against Algeria as they both aim to clinch the cup.
It has been an amazing AFCON tournament so far, drama and excitements not only for the supporters but for football lovers as well. Judging by how the tournament has been so far, there is a whole lot of expectations in this fixture tomorrow, a match that promises to be an epic battle between two nations who have equal chances of lifting the cup. The battle is not only about the two nations, but also between Mane and Mahrez, both player who will attract a lot of eyeballs on them.
Senegal are in the AFCON final for the second time the last one saw them come out as runner up back in 2002. This final means a lot to them and they will be going into the game with only one aim. So far, this competition has been great for them and they have shown that they have all it takes to be this year’s AFCON champions. Mane who is the main man for Senegal will be looking to add an international medal to his name after clinching the champions league with Liverpool few months ago.
Algeria proved their desire to win this competition in their semifinal clash against the super eagles of Nigeria, scoring right at the closing minutes of the game to secure their spot in the final and stand a huge chance of achieving their aim. For them, they want to win this competition again, their first and only AFCON triumph was back in 1990. Mahrez who will have a lot of eyes on him just like Mane, will be looking to continue his fine form in this competition and to help his team add another nations cup in their cabinet.
An exciting battle this is as both teams are strong favorites on paper. However, in football, the odds on paper doesn’t matter but what happens on the pitch tomorrow. Lots of expectation on this fixture and we look forward to a great AFCON 2019 final.
