Southampton vs Tottenham Hotspur

As expected, midweek premier league actions kick off tomorrow as we anticipate exciting fixtures. Spurs much like most of the other teams will also kick off their fixture tomorrow against Southampton away at the St Mary’s Stadium as they continue to fight for the top 4.

Southampton have regained some life after their last 3 games saw them earn 7 points out of 9. They have been in a difficult situation this season but as things are looking now, they seem to have found their mojo again. They are currently sitting 15th on the table and stand a huge chance of overtaking Arsenal in 12th if they get all 3 points against Spurs at home. A tough game for them against a team who are now been considered one of the favourites in the top 4 race. However, like we have seen in the past, the Saints have shown that they can upset any premier league team on their day and they will be aiming to do so at home against Spurs tomorrow.

Expected formation and tactics – Southampton will be expected to set up in a 4-4-2 formation. They are playing at home and will be expected to put up a top-level performance. Their gameplan will most likely be to counter-attack and also utilize their prowess on set pieces to upset Spurs.

Spurs have since found their feet again ever since they brought in Jose Mourinho to turn the table around for them and boy have they looked like a totally different side compared to few months ago. They have finally put themselves in a very good position in their top 4 quest as they are just 5 points behind Chelsea in 4th. There is still a long way to go and for them, they are one of the favorites to make it into the top 4 this season after it looked impossible months ago. They will be facing a somewhat rejuvenated Southampton side at the St Mary’s Stadium later tomorrow, a game that is considered as a tricky fixture for them as Southampton as we all know can upset any team in the premier league on their day.

Expected formation and tactics – Spurs will be expected to set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. They will want to dominate possession as the more superior team, however, they are managed by a manager who doesn’t care about the stats but the final results. So for them, they would try to win the game not minding the possession or the stats.

What do you think will be the outcome of this fixture?

I would love to read your thoughts and opinions… Enjoy your day.
