It has been a really interesting past few weeks and so far, my ongoing what do you expect from various top clubs in Europe is going on pretty well and for me, it is great to keep thinking ahead and allowing imaginations go wild. These past 3 days have been all about the Bundesliga and what I am expecting from the current top 3 teams in the Bundesliga this season. So far so good, we are turning our attention back to the premier league where we all kicked off this who what do you expect series from…
Today, we will be looking at the “New Kid on the Block” Leicester City who have not only impressed a lot this season, but have also caught the eyes of many for how good they’ve been so far this season… I know some might argue that Leicester have been there before based on their title-winning season few years back. However, that was a fluke back then as they caught everyone by surprise and before everyone could realize and pay attention to them, it was already too late for the rest of the teams and the rest, as they say, is history.
This season is quite different though as they are performing well in a time where the majority of the teams in the premier league are good enough to take points away from any team in the premier league, compared to when they won the league few years back. Rodgers is really doing an incredible job with Leicester City as they are not only getting results, but they are also getting results by playing pretty good football.
Prior to getting to the point where we are at the moment, a lot have been expecting Leicester City to drop off the top 4 positions but Leicester City have proven a lot of them wrong so far and are without a doubt a very strong favorite to secure 3rd position at the end of the season. Their current position and the number of quality results they’ve earned this season has made a lot to be wondering if they are now the new kid on the block? – and talking points have been raised concerning them and what we should expect from them next season if they finally secure 3rd position and champions league football for next season…
For me, the way I am looking at Leicester City and how good they are going, they could turn out to be a regular challenger in the top 4 race. They have grown so confident in themselves that they now see themselves as a top team which is good for them and their fans. However, whether they will be able to maintain the status as the new kid in the block and a regular name in the top 4 is still a probability and very much unlikely though as I feel that some of the other top 6 sides will be too strong that the top 4 positions will be a really tough battle next season.
Nevertheless, football can be full of surprises and we all saw that when Leicester won the league. No one knows what would happen from now going forward… you never can tell, Leicester could shock everyone and go on to become a regular face in the top 4 race… Only time will tell though. For now, let’s continue to hope for things to return back to normal very soon so we will continue to enjoy the awesomeness of football.
