It was already made public by so many sources that Willian rejected a 2-year contract from Chelsea because he wanted a 3-year contract. Things became clearer concerning Willian's contract situation at Chelsea after Chelsea’s FA Cup loss to Arsenal and that Willian was going to join his fellow countryman and business partner David Luiz at Arsenal after Arsenal decided to offer the Brazil international a 3-year contract. Everything have now been made official as Arsenal have announced Willian as their latest acquisition.
This latest development concerning Willian leaving Chelsea to join rival club Arsenal has raised a lot of talks and talking points on whether Willian is the right fit for Arsenal and what he can bring to the team. There is no doubt that Willian is a talented player with a lot of abilities like we have seen over the past years as a Chelsea player. However, the Chelsea fans can agree that Willian can also be a very frustrating player to watch sometimes as he makes a lot of poor decisions in the game and doesn’t really have the end product to be considered great. Nonetheless, his work-rate and abilities on the ball can never be questioned as on his day, he is superb.
Now that it is official and confirmed that Willian is a Gunner, a lot of talking points have surfaced concerning what he will bring to this Arsenal team… For me, I think Willian will add a lot of qualities to Arsenal. He is very good when it comes to counter attacks and has a very good work-rate in him, so there is doubt that he will slot into Mikel Arteta’s plans easily. Even though he isn’t known for having great creative output during games, when played in his preferred position on the left, he has a very good ability to cut in a score and also is undisputed freekick qualities. How well will he make Arsenal better is still a probability but one thing is certain, he will strengthen Arsenal and will most likely be a very good decision made by the club since they basically didn’t spend a dime for his transfer only his wages they will have to pay for the next 3 years or more. Above all, Willian is a very good player that will add a lot of qualities and experience to Arsenal’s attack.
