In America, I know there are many who could care less about futbol or even the World Cup in general. Some of the most surprising things I've heard was that some would actually watch 'boring' American sports like Hockey or Baseball before they would ever watch a World Cup match.  If I really had to make the choice, Id watch a hotly contested poker Heads-Up match between poker pros Phil Ivy and Tom Dwan before I would watch a game where Messi is going to single handedly dismantle France in this upcoming round of 16.

Is it just me? Or would at least half of the U.S care more about the World Cup if they had a team as prominent or half as good as teams like Argentina, Nigeria, or even Guatemala. I think the general consensus on this platform and other forums is that many Americans actually root and support international teams more than their own.

In a poll that I read based on statistics from 2014 by Jason Davis (https://ussoccerplayers.com/2014/04/americans-care-soccer.html)

*Eighty-six percent of Americans say they know nothing or very little about the World Cup

*Two in three Americans do not plan to follow the tournament

*Seven percent say they plan to follow the World Cup closely

As far as where I fit as an American viewing the World Cup, I remain neutral. I've always been one to appreciate competition at a high level of any sport whether that be from any country, team, or individual. Truthfully speaking, my first time playing FIFA for PS4 sparked my interest in international teams and superstars like Ronaldo and Messi and more. Only then did I stumble upon all of the hype about the World Cup. Now I am very familiar with the super teams and most desired match ups among fans around the world. Never thought I'd see Ronaldo and Messi playing on the same team for Argentina, that is a bit of a shocker to me considering how often I pit the two together when I'm playing FIFA

As far as who is the best? I choose Messi because its easier to play as him when I'm playing FIFA on the PS4. He's the more easier player to navigate and to destroy teams with than Ronaldo. That's my honest opinion aside from the fact that I have seen more high light reels in my life time of Messi than Ronaldo.
