After all the drama around Kv Mechelen and their exclusion from the Europa League after the match-fixing, it will be AA Gent playing the Qualifier round today against the Romanian Team Viitorul Constanta.

As always in these kinds of matches, the info I have is rather one-sided and it's pretty much a guessing game pre-game how to estimate the less known opponents. Big factor today will be the weather as it's the hottest day ever in Belgium. I remember a betting spot from many years back where it was Also AA Gent playing at home against a Spanish team during a heatwave totally getting destroyed because the opponents were much more used to the heat. The weather in Romania on average will be hotter but the past couple of days not as hot as in Belgium. If anything Gent should be used to it and don't have to make a long trip. AA Gent looks like having a decent team this year with a mix of experienced players and young talents and should end up fighting for playoff 1. They still look to be far off from the form they reached in their Champion year and coach Thorup remains somewhat under pressure. Looking at the results from Belgian Teams in the Europa League Qualifier quarter-final rounds, it can be seen that most of them have no real issue whatsoever to qualify often winning with bigger scores. My lean was on the Under because of the hot weather and the fact that AA Gent coach Thorup stated that keeping a clean sheet is the most important thing. Yet the over 2.5 is 5W-1L in previous matches at this stage in the EL Qualifiers on Belgian Teams. Viitrolul is a top team in Romania and they are sitting on the top of the standings after 2 weeks of play already also winning 5-0 against Dinamo Bucharest and winning with a B-squad last weekend. They did lose their top player Hagi who went to Genk for many Millions. His replacement was the best player on the pitch. Nothing tempts me to take pre-game in this match but I will as always be following this one live hoping to catch some bets there. Pretty much all my options are open and it will be 'bet-what-you-see.
