After news came out that Jose Mourinho had demoted Pogba and told him that he would never captain Manchester United again I thought the press were back to their usual antics taking advantage of a poor United result against Wolves.

Pogba was left out of the starting 11 for the Carabao cup against Derby that ended 2-2 and 7-8 in favor of Derby in penalties which effectively knocked Manchester United out. Most people figured that Pogba was just being rested for the game but on seeing the latest video of a very clear argument in training a few hours ago I do believe that the relationship between coach and player has soured irreparably.

Pogba is seen jogging onto the pitch to join his team mates. He greets Michael Carrick, totally skips Jose and greets Kieran McKenna with a smile on his face. Jose Mourinho then seems to say something to Pogba which turns his smile into a frown and the look that he gives the manager says everything you need to know.

He approaches his team mates and seems to be confused about something Jose says. He looks irritated.

My Thoughts

The club is becoming totally toxic and I believe the largest blame falls on the manager. I understand the issue with players having more power than the coach which is disastrous but limiting the creativity of your players has been the biggest rut for Manchester United.

Mourinho insistence on playing cautious football has limited the ability of Pogba who is arguably the best creative midfielder in the team and most of the time he finds himself defending rather than attacking.

We cannot score a goal and then fall back into a defensive formation. That does not work for Manchester United. The fear factor that used to give us the dominating edge in games has completely wanned because of defensive minded managers, from Moyes, Van Gall and now Mourinho.

Is it time for Jose to leave the club?

Yes! I fully believe he has taken us as far as he could. His tactics have both helped and equally held back Manchester United. It is time we had a new younger manager with new modern ideas to push this team even further.

Let us lose the dead wood in the team in the summer and focus on bringing in dynamic players and not static option B type players like Fellaini.
