We are now in the middle of summer and the biggest football championships are on vacation, summer camps are about to start, in a while tournaments and friendly matches will come back, in the meantime fans concentrate themselves on football market with big dreams and plans for their clubs. To kill the time we will see together some curious records about the football world. Let's start!

  • The first match of all time between national teams was Scotland vs England, played on November 1872 ended 0-0.
  • Mauricio Baldivieso, from Bolivia, at the tender age of 12, was the youngest player ever to have started with the highest category in his home country, in the ranks of Cochabamba's Club Aurora against La Paz Fútbol Club, in July 2009.
  • Stanley Matthews, English striker, played his last match with his national team in March 1957 at the age of 50. He was the first player to win both the Balon d'Or and the Football Writers Association Year award.
  • The fastest goal ever in football history was scored by Nawaf Al Abed in 2002, Al-Hilal striker, two seconds after kick-off.
  • The highest player is the Chinese Yang-Changpeng, 211 cm, Henan Jianye player of the Chinese Super League.
  • The lowest ever though is the Brazilian Elton Josè Gomes, 158 cm, he played during his career in Brazil, Romania, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia championships.
  • The match of the Madagascar championship, AS Adema vs SO de l 'Emyrne, counted 149 own goals in October 2002, the reason for this crazy result was to protest against a decision taken by the referee in a previous match.
  • The highest figure for a player was paid by Real Madrid for Gareth Bale, Welsh player, transferred from Tottenham in 2013 with 101 million euros, although in reality, looking at inflation, the most paid was Cristiano Ronaldo, sold by Manchester United to Real Madrid again, for 94 million.
  • The oldest team in the world is the Football Club Sheffield, founded in October 1857, 162 years ago, and still in activity in the 8th English Football League, the NPL Division One South, during its history the English team has never managed to pass the amateur level.
  • English goalkeeper William Foulke is the heaviest player on earth, 150 kg. He was nicknamed "Fatty", he played from 1894 to 1907 in Sheffield United, Chelsea and Bradford City.
  • The match with the most audience ever was the 1950 World Cup final, played at the Marcanà in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil vs Uruguay, which counted 199.854 persons, despite the stadium's capacity being "only" 160.000. Nicknamed by the home fans the "Disaster of the Maracanà" because, considering the "home" factor and the team composed of 11 great players, they were more than sure of the final victory, but in the end Uruguay won 2-1.
