Honestly I have never organized any sporting tournament, but I think I'm pretty sure that if I had to organize them I wouldn't chose about 4 together in the same period, I'm obviously referring to football, but the same could be for any other sport. Women's World Cup, Under 21 Championship, Total Africa Cup of Nations and Copa América. Personally I'm already struggle during the championship to follow Serie A matches that are now spread on almost every day, all this at the detriment of other championships, which I would like to follow more, especially Premier League, but being practically married I can't watch football 24/7. Now the delirium has increased considerably, apart from the inconvenience of some night games that I can't follow, on the other hand the time zone in America is different then I don't have anything to say, what I don't understand is to do this competition practically simultaneously, not to mention the fact that they make poor girls and boy playing during afternoon in the middle of summer, in this way they are suffering their physique and consequently also the game show, but not only, even the audience in the stands die under the sun or those who have to watch the matches at home or at the pub!
It is also true that there are not many periods available during the year in which to organize the various tournaments, but a solution could be studied about it, I would very much like to be able to solve this problem and write a sort of competition calendar, but beyond to be useless because nobody would read it, so it would be a waste of time and you would probably insult me a lot! 😄 So I prefer to avoid, I just put the bee in your bonnet... Maybe my criticism passing from mouth to mouth will arrive to interested parties... Even if I doubt that it will arrive and that they would worry about it too much, there is a lot of money involved, sponsors and televisions are pressing to get what they want, to damage of entertainment and audience, who will have to adapt and be silent.
Another very hot topic in my opinion is that of the televisions, I don't know how it is in your country, but here in Italy the state television, you have understood correctly... of the state... the RAI (Italian Radio-television), organized a legalized extortion by withdrawing 90€ per year, in 5 convenient installments, directly from the electricity bill to all owners of a television in the country. Around fifteen different channels are available, from cinema to culture, and 2 channels exclusively dedicated to sport, which do not give absolutely any football match except on delay, the only thing they are able to give are the matches of the Italian National Team, but those regarding the World Cup and the European Championships, however, must temporarily contend with the competition, fortunately so far also free, you can take away the house but do not touch the national football team to Italians, in this case they will be really angry!
I'm not saying that the price is excessive, 90€ for fifteen channels, in HD also, are not even exaggerated for the "middle Italian", it is the way in which they take this money, without the freedom to choose, also because sincerely , as far as I am concerned, I have never liked RAI and usually I don't look at it. If you want to watch the most important football matches and sporting events, you must subscribe to SKY satellite and from a while to DAZN Internet TV, all with the low cost of practically an annual salary, with consequent witch hunt for those who watch games on pirate websites.
Since the topic of organizing international summer tournaments is very well aware of being a point where we would not get anywhere, with regard to TV I would be really curious to know how it works where you live!
