This season's UCL campaign has brought so much entertainment to fans all over the world especially to the fans whose favourite teams progressed to the next stage of the tournament - round of 16.

For the first time in two decades, we won't be seeing five times winners FC Barcelona in the knockout stage of the champions league as they failed to make it out of the group stage.

As we await the round of 16 draws which is set to take place at UEFA's headquarter in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday, 13 December 2021, let's take a moment to look at the best performers (statistics leaders) from the group stage.

That's an average of 1.67 goals per match. Séb Haller also put his name in the record books as he joined an elite list of players who have scored in all 6 group stage games. Hats off Haller.

2. Robert Lewandowski - 9 goals

Robert Lewandowski has carried on with what now seems to be his daily routine - scoring goals - either in the domestic league it in the champions league. With 9 goals in 6 games for Bayern Munich, he's averaged 1.5 goals per match so far.

Next on the goal scorers chart are Christopher Nkunku (RB Leipzig) and Mohammed Salah (Liverpool) who have each scored 7 goals in 6 games played. That's an average of 1.17 goals per match.

•Assists

  1. Bruno Fernandes (Man. United) - 6 Assists in 5 games.
  2. Anthony (Ajax Amsterdam) - 5 Assists in 5 games.

Bruno Fernandes is Europe's assist king

Bruno Fernandes was deprived of the chance to add to his tally of 6 assists as he was among those rested in their last group game by Man. United interim manager Ralf Rangnick. Fernandes' mind will be set on equalling and even eclipsing James Milner's record of 9 assists in a single UCL campaign during the 2017/18 season.
