Current Ghana Black Stars captain Asamoah "Baby Jet" Gyan has resigned from the national team as he was called for the Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) and yet a new captain was named.

Asamoah Gyan has been part of the Black Stars squad since 2003 and has been an integral part of the team. There were rumours about a captaincy struggle between him and Andre Dede Ayew and he resigning confirms that there was some truth those rumors.

The Ghana Football Association or the current Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah is yet to issue an official statement about this matter. With the AFCON just a few weeks away, I can only hope that this doesn't have an adverse effect on the performance of the Black Stars.
