2 more rounds to go in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League! 2 more finals to play for Genk!

Last week they lost at Club Brugge, which decreased their lead to 3 points! Actually the lead now is only 2.5 points because if Brugge and Genk both will end with the same number of points, Brugge will be crowned the Champion!

History!

Genk won their first cup in 1998, 10 years after the club was founded! What is remarcable is that this cup was won on the 16th of May!

Genk won their first title in 1999 and yes believe it or not, the title was won on the 16th of May 1999!

Genk now has 3 titles and is chasing it's fourth! And today could be the day that the deal is sealed! And guess what day it is today! Indeed the 16th of May 2019!

In the two remaining games Genk needs to collect 4 point. If they do this it doesn't matter if Brugge wins both their last 2 games!
So it is the 16th and 4 points are needed to win their 4th title! And 16 divided by 4 is 4! The numbers all add up!

How can they win the title today?

A win could give them a push in the good direction but isn't necesarry. As long as Genk has a better result than Brugge at Antwerp, they will be the champion!

If both teams have the same result, at least a draw is need against Standard next Sunday at home!
Genk has the difficult away trip to Anderlecht at the agenda, while Brugge has to travel to Standard Liege! It is hard to predict how these games will evolve! Both coaches do say that they are not interested to know the score in the other game during their game, but this information for sure will have an impact on the games!

Suppose that Genk will come ahead before Brugge does, it will increase the pressure on Brugge, just like it would be the other way around! If one of both teams will get behind, it will again change the mindset of the players of the other team! And regardless if they want to or not, they will know it!
Suppose that Standard will open the score against Genk, for sure the Club sups will be chearing. Just like it would be the other way around!

To bad, I can't watch the game because I will forced to play interclub tennis! Guess I will have to make sure that it will be a short game so that I can watch a little bit of the game! I am more stressed for the footbal game than for my own tennis games!

Standard and Anderlecht

The difference between the two opponents is that both teams will enter the field with a different mindset!

Standard is in the chase of Antwerp who has a 2 point lead. They are battling it out for the third place in the competition. Third or fourth place could be a huge difference for next season. For the players reaching third place could even mean that they holiday will be extended by a week! The number four has to play a play off against the winner of PO II, so the competition lasts a week longer. Also if they do win the final of the PO, they will enter Europe 2 weeks sooner, resulting in the fact that they will have to start sooner with the summer practice! Last season around the same moment Brugge did win more or less the title on Standard, I do hope that the players of Standard will have enough motivation to take revenge!

Anderlecht on the other side is 5 points behind Standard and will need the 3 points to have a slim chance to play the final of PO. But this will probably be unlikely! The motivation and drive will be smaller than the players of Standard will have!

But and Standard and Anderlecht aren't in the form of their lives. So an early goal against could seal the deal for Brugge and Genk!

Come on RACING!!!!!!

Cheers,
Peter
