A strange image to promote this post. But this week the second scandal in the Jupiler Pro League did pop up! This one is not related with operation "Clean Hands" but all has to do with Mouscron.
Mouscron is considered an ugly duck in the Jupiler Pro League and lot's of team did suspect strange set-up to obtain the license and to cover up who really is owning the club. Lot's of complaints have been made to the Jupiler Pro League but each time without any result. But this time they really could be in troubles.
It all has to do with offshore account, which were being used to hide some stuff from the outside world. The Belgian Police did had an investigation running and decided last week the freeze all bank account of Mouscron. This could be problematic for Mouscron to obtain their License for next season. The Jupiler Pro League decided to let the competition go on and will see after the season which actions have to be taken!

Not only this is causing some problems for the Jupiler Pro League but also the situation of KV Mechelen. KV Mechelen did relegate last season, but just before November they were accused of match fixing trying to avoid the relegation. If this can be proven they will loose their license and will drop 2 or 3 more leagues in stead of returning to the Jupiler Pro League!

So the final table of the season, could become meaningless concerning the relegation. This could be the save line for Lokeren, who probably will officially relegated this weekend.

The games and predictions

The important games

Genk and Club Brugge are already sure of a spot in PO I but both teams are the favorites to take the title!

At Genk it is finally official that Pozuelo will leave the team just before the start of the Play off. So he will be playing 3 more games. But I doubt it that he will start in these games and if so I will be surprised. The coach has to find solution to play without Pozuelo so that he knows what to do in the Play offs. It would be stupid not to use the 3 reamining games of the regular competition! They will have a tough away game to Charleroi, who desperately need to win, to keep having a chance on PO I. If Charleroi looses it will be probably over and out!

Club Brugge has a tough home game again St Truiden, which is ranked third. The model does this that Club Brugge will win, but I don't know to be honest! Maybe a draw is very well possible!

Anderlecht will visit Lokeren. Both teams do need the victory. Anderlecht to stay in the top 6 and Lokeren will relegate if they don't win this game. I will follow the model in this one. Anderlecht will have an easy victory!

Antwerp also need to keep the 3 points at home against Eupen. I don't see any problem for them doing this.

Gent has a trip to Waregem, which is harder than it looks. While Gent isn't playing badly the form of Waregem is increasing. I really do see Waregem working towards Play Off 2 and putting down a great performance. Maybe a draw?

Standard kick off round 28 at home against Mouscron. Mouscron did win their last 6 games but I do wonder what kind of impact the scandal will have on the team. Standard will win this one, but both teams will score!

All the other games are more or less end of season games, where nobody has anything to win or loose!

Cheers,

Peter
