One more round to go and round 29 did bring us a lot of wisdom! Besides the points, only 2 teams really have something to play for in the last round of the regular competition!
More about that later!

First let's see at the results of round 29!

Results

  • Anderlecht - Kortrijk: 2 - 0
    • Lots of people were hoping that Anderlecht would miss out on Play Off I, which would have been the first time since this competition format is being used. But with the victory over Kortrijk they did guarantee themselves a spot in PO I.
The qualitify of play is improving week by week which will mean that they will be one of the deciders in PO I. I don't think that the have a chance to win the championship!
  • Antwerp - Charleroi: 1 - 2
    • Charleroi really needed to win this game to keep their chances on getting into PO I alive. They did deserve the win and in my eyes a rather surprising one. Coach Boloni of Antwerp maybe asked to much of his team in the chase for PO I. The team looks tired, it is good for them that there will be a one week break between the regular competition and PO I, they really do need it!
Due to the results in the other games, Charleroi is doomed to play PO II. They could win PO II and take a shot for a European spot!
  • Cercle Brugge - Standard : 1 - 2
    • After an early 0 - 2 lead for Standard they did start to play sloppy and made the victory harder than it looks! But the 3 points are welcome for them after not winning 2 games in a row!
  • Eupen - Club Brugge: 0 - 4
    • Eupen had nothing to play for and Club Brugge is still trying to catch up Genk. Still nobody did expect such an easy victory for Club Brugge. The two key players (Vormer and Vanaken) are playing better each week! In this games the two of them were involved in all 4 goals.
  • Genk - Lokeren: 1 - 0
    • Genk had to play against Lokeren, who is already sure that it will end up last in the regular competition. In a normal season this would mean relegation but with all the scandels going around I won't be surprised if they will play again next season in the Jupiler Pro League. Genk needed the 3 points to stay ahead. It was a tougher game than everybody tought it would be. The players of Lokeren were trying to prove to the other clubs in the Jupiler Pro League teams that they are worthy to play in the top competition in Belgium. They were playing for a transfer. This caused a lot of problems for Genk. A beautiful goal of Maehle who is getting out of his form dip! The refs were thankfully saved by this goal, because they rejected a goal from Samata, which was clearly over the line.
It was also the last home game of captain Pozuello who will be leaving after the next game to Toronto!
  • Gent - Oostende
    • Gent had no troubles with keeping the 3 points at home against a demotivated Oostende. With this victory they will play against St Truiden for a spot in PO I.
  • Mouscron - St Truiden: 1 - 1
    • A great game from St Truiden but they just killed all their chances they had! To make it even worse Mouscron took 2 red cards in the last 20 minutes of the games. With a win they would have only needed a draw against Gent to assure themselves for the second time ever a spot in PO I. Due to this draw they will need a victory!
  • Waasland-Beveren - Waregem: 1 - 1
    • Besides the supporters of both teams, nobody was interested in this game!
