A 1-1 draw away on Anderlecht was enough to seal the deal! Club Brugge did loose away at Standard, which was more or less unexpected! For sure if you do know that Standard got a red card around minute 30. So there was nobody who would have place a bet from that moment that Standard still would win the game!

Genk on the other side had an excellent start and came 0-1 ahead in the 9th minute of the game and did dominate the first half but forgot to score their second goal. Like written yesterday this did increase the pressure on Club Brugge. The fans of Brugge did get some hope when Anderlecht equalized but not long after that Standard did get a penalty, destroying all hope!

Do you remember that I did write yesterday that the 16th of May could become a special day? On the 16th of May they now have won 2 titles and one cup!

But what makes it even more special is that the goal was a result of 16 completed passes in a row! What about that!
If I would be a player of KRC Genk I would immediatly request shirt number 16 for next season!

But the title has won! Now it is time to celebrate and celebrate! But after that the hard reality will strike! We are financially healthy and don't need outgoing transfer to keep the books in order, for sure not after the qualification for the group phase of the Champions League! But we have to remind ourselves that we are a small club in Europe! So lot's of bigger clubs are interested in our key players and it will be though to keep them together. No doubt that at least 3 of them will make a transfer during the summer transfer window! We do need to hope that some players do want to stay because of the Chamions League. Why miss out on that opportunity? Maybe they will never have another chance of playing in this league!

But it also will have a positive effect, we will cash out on the outgoing transfers. And with the qualification in the pocket we are more appealing for the incoming transfers!

In the past the season after winning the title was always a nightmare. We never did get ranked higher than position 6! I do hope that next year will be different!

But now, let's first enjoy this moment and see what the future brings next week or so!

Cheers,
Peter
