Arsenal survived a late unslaught to secure a hard fought 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tonight.

For all the Blues dominance, especially in the second half, they somehow fell short in the final third as Mikel Arteta’s Gunners’ stood firm although.

Thomas Tuchel’s men paid the price for not taking perhaps the game’s best chance in the 11th minute, thanks to a missed effort by Kai Havertz, who fired high above the post with Bernd Leno at his mercy.

Moments later and in the 16th minute, Emile Smith-Rowe scored what turned out to be the decider. The Youngster tapped home after Pierre Emerick Aubameyang teed him up following a Jorginho’s misplaced pass to his Goalkeeper.

With the loss, Chelsea missed the opportunity to leapfrog Leicester City into third place as the Gunners’ moved up to eight, doing their quest to secure qualification to next season’s Europa League a fair bit of good.

It was the first time, Arsenal had won three consecutive Premier League games since they last did so in May 2013 under Arsene Wenger.
