Nzonzi has spent the past two years away from Roma on a loan at Galatasaray and Stade Rennes. The French midfielder is also not included in Roma coach José Mourinho's plans this season, and he is therefore not registered in the club's Serie A squad this season.

Nzonzi switched to Roma from Spanish Sevilla in the summer of 2018 for €21 million. The Frenchman has played 39 matches for Roma. During his spell at Stade Rennes, Nzonzi played more matches than he has played for Roma with 46 appearances.

Nzonzi's contract with Roma expires after this season. If the Frenchman can not agree with Al Rayyan, he is expected to leave Roma by next summer.
