Mateo Kovačić is most likely to leave Real Madrid in this window. His possible destination is unknown but probably any big team that can fit him into the starting lineup might be preparing the bid.

There is only one reason for Kovačić to insist on leaving Real Madrid and that is the lack of playing time. His insecurity is understandable and we can't blame him for his decision. Kovačić is good enough to start for any club on a regular basis. Whenever he got chance to play for Real Madrid he dropped a masterclass performance, be it as a CDM, CM or in the double pivot.

Right now the top 3 midfielders in the pecking order are Kroos, Casemiro, Modrić followed by Isco, Kovačić. Under Lopetegui this pecking order might be the subject to change but again Isco is the favorite to walk into the starting lineup. To fit Kovačić, Lopetegui has to take out either Casemiro or one of Kroos and Modrić. Taking that Lopetegui's tactical approach demands more technical players in midfield it could be between Kovačić and Casemiro. Lopetegui has to convince Kovačić to stay by keeping his plan to put him in the lineup in front of him.

It's pretty difficult for anyone to convince Kovačić because Kovačić needs a guarantee of most possible minutes rather than just a promise.
