I do feel for Marcelo, because he wasn't put in a good position to contribute. He needs a aerial threat in the box. There is just no getting around that. He's not great defensively and when he doesn't have a target to pay those balls in for or use as a decoy, he really can't help. Belgium and every team are happy to let him cut outside because they know Brazil have no one in the box who can be effective in the air. That also prevents him from cutting inside because the defenders block that passage and force him out.

I don't expect him to do much with Gabriel Jesus. He needs a proper striker to play at his best. Brazil don't have one and so they pretty much don't have Marcelo.

Playing Jesus didn't make much sense anyway, the way I see it Firmino delivers more on almost every occasion.
