The NPFL, Nigerian National Professional League which commenced late December last year, continued yesterday with has it entered Matchday 4, however, of all the 5 teams who have remained unbeaten prior to yesterday's game, only 3 were able to keep their unbeaten run intact, Kano Pillars, Nasarawa Unitedx and Dakkada Fc.

Rivers who started the league in blitzing form, winning all 3 of their previous games, were brought down to earth by 16th placed Wikki Tourists in a game that ended 1 nil at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in favour of the latter.

The 2nd team that saw their unbeaten run shattered was Enyimba of Aba.

The Elephanta were also stunned by another lowly side, 17th placed Heartland of Owerri, at the Dan Anyiam Stadium by 2 goals to nothing.

"How art both mighty teams fallen" you might want to say.

HOW THE NPFL TABLE LOOKS LIKE NOW:

Although they saw their unbeaten run shattered by Wikki Tourist, Rivers United still maintain top spot as joint table leaders with Enugu Rangers who defeated Ifeanyi Ubah by 2 goals to 1. Both teams are on 9 points, however, the boys from Rivers stay at the top with a better goal difference.

The remaining unbeaten teams of Kano Pillars, Nasarawa United, and Dakkada Fc complete the top 5 with equal points, 8 points. However, based on goal difference, Pillars who got the better of Plateau United now sit in 3rd position, followed by Nasarawa United, who played a goalless draw against Adamawa United, in 4th position, and lastly, Dakkada Fc, who played a goal draw against MFM Fc in, 5th.

The last 3 teams on the table are Heartland of Owerri, who defeated Enyimba of Aba by 2 nil in 17th position with 3 points., followed closely by Adamawa United, who got their 2nd draw of the campaign by holding Nasarawa United to a goalless draw, in 18th position with 2 points, and lastly, Abia Warriors, who succeeded to their 4th defeat of the season in a 3-1 loss to Jigawa Golden Stars at home, in 20th position with 0 points.

The NPFL will continue with Matchday 5 this weekend, 17th of January, 2020.
