Manchester United were able to scrap out a 2-0 victory over fellow English side Brighton. More often than not, we see the players of Manchester United playing fantastically in the first half, and then bottling the result in the second half.

Nonetheless, the game against Brighton was not set to toe a similar scenario. In the opening stages, the Red Devils looked like a confused bunch. As they struggled to pull up quality passes.

At the wake of the second half, we saw a rejuvenated United side, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo up and doing.

Ronaldo's performance:

For the five-time Balon d’Or winner, it was not a classical display. However, he found a way to get his name on the scorer sheet.

After receiving a pass in the Brighton half of the field, Ronaldo burst through with pace, took one and a second player of the Brighton team, and then released a shot that was unstoppable.

Fernandes performance:

For Fernandes, he showed class all through the game right from the sound of the whistle.

As soon as Pogba came into the fray, Fernandes linked up well with the French man and was able to score a second courtesy as pass from Pogba.

Summary:

For Brighton, they could give themselves a pat in the back for at least getting quality chances in the game. Even hitting the woodwork once.

The Old Trafford giants now move to 4th place. 2 points ahead of West Ham in 5th. And four points behind Chelsea in 3rd who have a game in hand.
