One thing about being a professional footballer is that you must be ready for criticisms from fans once you're performing below expectations. It's even worse when you're an attacker without scoring goals for some time or conceding too many goals as a goalkeeper.

It's gonna surprise you how quick people can forget your past heroics and only concentrates on your recent setbacks. You just can't blame them, because you enjoyed the praises when you were on top of your game. If not careful, you could be pushed to utter words against your reasoning in reaction to media outlets publishing these stuffs.

It takes wisdom to remain calm amidst professional storms, and that's exactly what the Nigerian Vice Captain Ahmed Musa has done. The Super Eagles forward hasn't found the net yet at the ongoing African Cup Of Nations being played in Egypt. The three times AFCON winners have played five games so far in the tournament, but Musa who plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia is yet to net a goal as many would have predicted.

Musa has never played any international tournament for Nigeria without netting a goal, perhaps the main reason why his current drought is unsettling and attracting criticisms from Nigerian fans. So far so good, the only contribution he has made as regards goal in the tournament is the chest pass he delivered to Ighalo in the 3-2 win against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon at the round of 16.

However, as the warm up ahead of their semi final clash against Algeria later today, the Vice Captain has come out to give some explanations as regards his posture in the team, which has been the major reason why he isn't firing to score goals in the tournament so far. From his statement, Musa is hopeful of breaking his drought later today against Algeria.

He said ” As a professional you have to play to the instruction of the coach as it is usually the best for the team as a whole. I defend more in this set up and when the ball is with me the instruction is to play it quickly into the box for the other players who are facing goal. Hopefully the goal will come for me against Algeria but it’s not something I will say is giving me concerns because as long as I keep playing to the instruction of the coaches and we are winning then I don’t think it’s a problem “.
